On November 12, HazingInfo.org marks five years since the hazing death of Sam Martinez, the son of our founder, Jolayne Houtz.

HazingInfo.org is Sam’s legacy, launched in 2024 with the belief that parents and students deserve to have all the facts about hazing on college campuses so they can make smart decisions about the groups, teams, and clubs they join.

Please consider making a donation in memory of Sam to accelerate our work building the nation’s first comprehensive database of hazing incidents on US college campuses.

Your gift will help us gather hazing data from all 50 states

As a new start-up, HazingInfo relies on individual donations to pay for the technology, tools, and staff to gather, analyze, and publish hazing data.

Many volunteers also donate their time and talents to HazingInfo.org, including Nam-ho Park, assistant teaching professor at the University of Washington, and Senior Project Adviser Elizabeth Geri.

Our website currently contains hazing incident data from 400-plus higher education institutions in nine states. Your gift will help us speed up our work to collect data from colleges and universities in all 50 states and create a free, one-stop website for students and parents to learn about hazing.

How to donate to HazingInfo.org

HazingInfo is not yet a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. Instead, tax-deductible gifts to support HazingInfo can be made through our two partner organizations at the University of Maine and the University of Washington.

To donate via the University of Maine: Enter your gift amount and select “Other fund not listed here.” In the text box, write “Sam Martinez Hazing Prevention Fund.” Your gift supports HazingInfo’s overall work.

To donate via the University of Washington: Search for the “Sam Martinez Hazing Prevention Fund.” Your gift provides funding for our data project led by students and faculty at the UW Information School to create an online tool about college hazing incidents.
